Legionellosis and Water Hygiene L8 & HTM 04-01 Audit | ||||||||||||||||
Audit
is crucial to the development or refinement of any good risk management
system. The audit process draws on the management requirements of the
HSE L8 ACOP and Department of Health HTM04-01 & HTM03-01 (where appropriate)
and mirrors the practice of the ISO.9001 standard. Audit is typically
used as an initial preparatory stage and on an annual basis to confirm
compliance and improvement. The objective of the Legionellosis and Water Hygiene Audit is to produce a clear, independent, broad management overview of compliance, achievements, improvement and any shortcomings to be addressed. The resulting report provides top-level recommendations with budget cost estimates, in the format of an action plan. Audit is an inexpensive exercise, representing excellent value for money. |
The
report provides evidence internally (and to visiting HSE Inspectors) that
the organisation is aware of its status with respect to Legionella/water
hygiene and has a risk-based programme to achieve any necessary improvements. The audit covers issues such as: · Appointments of Responsible Persons and associated · staff. · Roles, responsibilities and lines of communication · Risk assessment and re-assessment of compliance · Review of the policy and procedures document(s), · records · Implementation of remedial works · Evidence of monitoring and performance of systems · Staff training The audit also includes inspections of “typical” buildings and their water systems. |
