Legionnaires’ Disease:
Role of the Competent Person (CP)

 
The Water Hygiene Centre is presenting a series of Legionnaires' Disease: Role of the Competent Person training courses, providing information on the risks posed by legionnaires’ disease and the practical measures for controlling and minimising such risks.

This course deals with the practical aspects of controlling the risk. See “Which course is right for me?”.

Topics covered on the course will include:

· Protection of maintenance personnel and others
· Tank cleaning procedure
· Cold water tanks with water temperature greater than
· 20°C
· Calorifier flushing
· Calorifier maintenance
· Destratification checks
· Showers
· Domestic hot water temperature less than 45°C
· Cleaning water systems within buildings
· Safe purging of stagnant water
· Maintenance checks for other water systems
· Sampling and monitoring
· Water temperature checks
· General microbiological/Legionella sampling of water.
