Written by Daniel Pitcher | Mar 1, 2021 2:38:00 PM

Is water safety something an organisation needs to be concerned about…? What is the actual risk with water…? These might be some of the thoughts that pop into your head when you read the title of the session.

This one-hour briefing aims to provide some hard-hitting facts and published stats on reported cases of illness associated with waterborne pathogens detailing those who are most susceptible.

Having set the scene on these outcomes related to water, the briefing starts to outline 5 practical steps on what an organisation needs to really consider with the management of water safety.

These 5 top tips can be directly related to published guidance from the HSE…  For those who have some responsibility with health and safety and water for their organisation, this is a helpful introduction.

With 23 years of independent consulting experience, Daniel established the Water Hygiene Centre in February 2009 to be a ‘centre of excellence dedicated to independent water safety consultancy. His experience spans auditing, training, development of Water Safety Plans, incident investigations, competent help support and acting as Authorising Engineer [Water] [AEW] for NHS Trusts, Health Boards, Local Government, Universities and Housing Associations.

Daniel is an absolute advocate of independent consultancy, having witnessed and experienced the lack of impartial advice and support given by ‘contractors’ to organisations. ‘It never ceases to amaze me the consistency of poor advice and the lack of impartial advice that organisations take from contractors, examples include: the need to clean cold water tanks every 6 months, the installation of alternative technology based on ‘fear’ sells, poor sampling practices and the list goes on….’
