But while the requirement for risk assessments isn't new, the standard and quality of those assessments can vary considerably.

Capital Projects – The Importance of a Project Water Safety Group

When a healthcare building is being designed, refurbished or constructed, water safety shouldn't be something considered when the project is nearly finished.  By that point, it can be too late.

Jim's session at the IPS Annual Conference will explore the important role of a Project Water Safety Group (PWSG) in helping Infection Prevention and Control teams influence water safety throughout the lifecycle of a capital project.

The session will look at how the right stakeholders can be brought together early, including Estates and Facilities, IPC teams, microbiologists, water safety specialists and Authorising Engineers (Water), architects, contractors and relevant clinical representatives.

Rather than treating water safety as the responsibility of one department, a PWSG provides a structured way for the different disciplines involved in a project to work together.

We're back to risk assessments for our final September event!

Jim will be delivering another 30–45 minute briefing on Legionella Risk Assessments and BS8580-1:2019, looking at why risk assessments are required and, importantly, whether the assessments you currently rely on meet the expected standard.
